Dubai Museum is a great place to be for a very evocative atmosphere with plenty of delightful art galleries and cafes, to explore displays of fine collection from the prevailed ancient history of the social economic and professional life including copper, alabaster, stones, metallic items, engravings, skeletons and pottery artefacts found in graves of up to 4,000 years from the Al-Qusais, Hatta, Al Soffoh and Al Jumeira archaeological sites.You will also find displays of colourful life size splendid dioramas with sound & lighting effects, sets of pearl, merchants eights and scales, provided with deep insight into the old Arabian lifestyle.

The Dubai Museum is located in the heart of the city, precisely in the Al Fahidi Fort which is itself one of the most ancient historical Buildings in Dubai, and was erected around 1787 to defend the city against invasion, which is now at the same time the fascinating military Museum. If you are interested to know how the city rapidly developed, a visit to the spectacular part of the museum is the section on the development of modern Dubai, in which you are taken through a pictorial tour of Dubai decade-by-decade, from 1960 onward.
Dubai Museum opens from 8h30 to 19h30 from Saturday to Thursday and Friday from 14h00 to 19h30. Note that free entry is offered with most of the Dubai Sightseeing Tours taken.
Step-back in time into the old Bastakiya district...
Famous for its narrow streets and traditional wind towers that will give you a tantalizing glimpse of old Dubai, Bastakiya is situated in Bur Dubai and is completed of Museum, Art Gallery, restaurants, bustling market and Cultural Centre, which attracts a lot of tourists as it exuberates the ancient and historical feel of Dubai.

Bastakiya has been earmarked for tourist development, and still going into rejuvenation as a tourist village, and it is one of the oldest residential areas along the famous Dubai Creek.

For an interesting picturesque step-back in time into one of the traditional courtyard houses with pretty decorative grilles, hanging oil lamps, and wooden lattice on the second floor, where you could enjoy authentic Arab cuisine, bedecked with these uniquely Arabian wind towers, and with views of the Bastakiya rooftops.

There is also the new street market which is going on every Saturday, featuring over 50 vendors, musical performances and activities, could be an interesting day out option for the whole family to take, with dedicated areas for children activities.
